Paula Tape Drops Exciting News About Her New EP “Acid Latino”

Acclaimed Chilean electronic artist Paula Tape is back with exciting news, announcing her upcoming EP, "Acid Latino," set to be released via Future Classic on November 20th

This project represents a vibrant exploration of her rave and acid house influences, skillfully blending 90s dance elements with an unpredictable Latin flair. The title track is available now, offering fans a tantalizing preview of the rich sonic landscape that awaits.

The standout single, "Acid Latino (Sonido Real)," is a hypnotic fusion designed for the dancefloor, combining the iconic acid basslines of the TB-303 with a driving house groove and a classic salsa touch. The track propels forward like a high-speed train, featuring Paula’s warped vocals layered over pulsating rhythms, resulting in a dynamic piece that evolves the foundational aspects of her musical heritage.

Paula shares her inspiration behind the track: “I've always liked salsa piano progression; I find it soulful and rich in groove. One day, I was listening to 'Bilongo' by Fania All-Stars, and I was in a trance because of how the piano moved and sounded. At that time, I was working in the studio, and I dared to use a Latin piano progression, curious to try something similar but in a more electronic key.”

The broader "Acid Latino" EP delves into Paula's personal journey, exploring her identity and the world shaped by her extensive touring and lived experiences. The title reflects her desire to spotlight the vibrant South American music scene. “Acid Latino is a state of mind; it’s a feeling of emotions that are coming through a long process of awareness. Much of the music was inspired while traveling the South American continent and sharing moments with my people around there,” Paula explains. The final project promises to be a mesmerizing and unique soundscape that captures her rich cultural background and artistic vision.
