Renner was born in Modesto, California, and raised in Modesto and Sacramento. He began his career as a construction worker and a part-time model before turning to acting. He made his film debut in 1995 in the film Harsh Times. He has since appeared in films such as The Town (2010), The Hurt Locker (2009), The Avengers (2012), and Avengers: Age of Ultron (2015).
Renner is also a singer-songwriter. He released his debut album, American Snitch, in 2012.
