Balming Tiger says of the EP : “We were going to release all five tracks from this EP in five separate singles. We then decided to put the 5 tracks together and make an EP with various moods. As we were originally going to release them all as singles, all five tracks are priorities, so we chose the title of the EP as "Greatest Hits." This is an EP that is more like a compilation album of singles in which each track is full of individuality than an album with organicity between tracks. This is Balming Tiger's first release in a year since their first studio album, "January Never Dies," released last year. It's a different direction from Balming Tiger's existing work so far, so a new vibe will be felt.”
A diverse music collective taking their name from the famous Asian ointment “Tiger Balm”, Balming Tiger describes themselves as a "multinational alternative K-pop band" with a desire to create an impact globally and carve a uniquely captivating lane for K-Pop. The main creative vision of Balming Tiger is to reflect and represent the younger generation of today’s society, aiming to further popularise today’s hyper-expressive Asian youth culture throughout the world, whilst drawing inspiration from a wider spectrum of global influences.
Their critically acclaimed debut album “January Never Dies” included the singles “Buriburi”, “Moving Forward”, “Kamehameha”, “SOS”, “Trust Yourself” and “SEXY NUKIM” featuring RM of legendary K-pop band BTS, which achieved record-breaking results including reaching #1 on Billboard’s ‘World Digital Song Sales’ chart. The music video for “SEXY NUKIM (feat. RM of BTS)” surpassed 10 million views. The video for 'Moving Forward' was an excerpt from forthcoming film "Moving For Word" starring members of Balming Tiger. The full version of the film was released nationwide in Korean theatres.
Each artist in this ensemble expresses a different artistic identity and energy, as well as a wide range of versatility in crafting their distinct visual world, and all members have contributed to the album project. Founding member and K-pop and K-rap sensation Omega Sapien released his solo EP “WUGA” via LuckyMe,, featuring incendiary collaborations with Grammy nominated producer Baauer, NUXXE label head Sega Bodega and Vernon of K-pop collective SEVENTEEN.
Balming Tiger recently took their live show on the road for their “January Never Dies World Tour” with stops including Iceland’s Airwaves Festival, Berlin’s Berghain and Pitchfork London Festival and played a show stopping set at Glastonbury Festival last Summer, and completed their Tiny Tour with sold out shows in London and Paris.
