Fresh Off His Breakthrough Colors Performance And Sold Out Headline Tour, Los Angeles-based R&b Singer-songwriter Phabo Returns Today With His First Release Of The Year Entitled “out Of Touch” Featuring Uk-based, Nigerian-born R&b Artist Shaé Universe.
Written by Phabo and Shaé with production by Malik Ninety Five, “Out of Touch” is lifted from Phabo’s upcoming new full-length album due out later this year and finds the two critically acclaimed artists.
"As an artist, we coexist with an ongoing stigma that we’re unable to walk a faithful line when it comes to long-distance relationships,” shares Phabo about the inspiration behind the song. “Oftentimes we stumble upon love in new cities and countries which leaves us chasing a moment or a specific emotion. A feeling that easily flees with surmounting schedule demands and a budding career. So I feel like this song fairly allows space for both Shae and I to detail what that experience can be like."
Hailed as an “indie luminary” and “R&B's new North Star” (Noisey/Vice), the singer-songwriter Phabo is modernizing the best parts of what we know as R&B. In July 2021, the Los Angeles-based artist issued his debut album, Soulquarius, via the influential radio show and indie record label Soulection Records known for their work championing and ushering in the new generation of R&B talent.
Laced with notable guest appearances from Alex Vaughn, Destin Conrad, Rexx Life Raj and Mntra set against inimitable production work by LosHendrix (SZA, Giveon, Childish Gambino) and Louie Lastic (Goldlink, Masego, Kali Uchis), Phabo bares his soul on Soulquarius as he sings of love, lust, musings, heartbreak, and passion. The 16-track record is an intoxicating experience that captures a West Coast ethos harking back to the pioneers of classic soul and R&B from artists like D'Angelo, Erykah Badu, and Jahiem drawing influences from the rotating collective of experimental Black music artists in the late 90's and early 00's while also incorporating sounds from contemporary R&B. In support of the record, Phabo embarked on his first ever 15-date headlining tour, which was supported by LAYA and sold out shows in key markets including DC, Toronto, New York City, Atlanta, LA and London.
Gearing up for his upcoming full-length album, Phabo gave a breakthrough performance of his single “SCORPIO MOON” on influential global platform COLORS that has racked up over a million streams on Spotify alone. Outside of his own releases, he has featured on several collaborations including “4K” by Duckwrth and “Truly Yours (Remix)” alongside Eric Bellinger, Dom Kennedy, and The Game in addition to establishing himself as a driving force in the songwriting scene having penned hits for the likes of Kehlani, Kyle Dion, and Jahkoy.
