Craving a bowl of hearty chili but don't have time to spend hours in the kitchen? Try this delicious Chili with Beans Crockpot Recipe! Ready in no time, you’ll be able to enjoy a comforting meal without any fuss.
Begin by gathering the ingredients you need to make chili with beans. You will need 2 (15-ounce) cans chopped tomatoes, 1 (15-ounce) can red kidney beans, 1 cup diced onion, 1 green bell pepper, 3 cloves garlic, 1/4 cup chili powder, 2 tablespoons cumin powder, 1 teaspoon salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste.
If using ground beef in the chili, heat a large skillet with 1 tablespoon of oil over medium-high heat. Add the ground beef and break it up into small pieces with a spatula or wooden spoon. Brown for about 5 minutes, until no pink remains. Use a slotted spoon to transfer the cooked beef to the slow cooker.
Once the beef is cooked, add all of the remaining ingredients, including any seasonings. Stir everything together, cover and cook on low for 6-8 hours or on high for 4-6 hours. Check once halfway through cooking to ensure that the chili isn't sticking to the bottom of the crockpot. Adjust the chili thickness by adding a bit more beef broth if necessary. Finish with a bit of freshly chopped parsley or cilantro as a garnish. Enjoy!
Once the beef is done browning, add the remaining ingredients to your crockpot. This includes onion, garlic, bell peppers, canned tomatoes and juice, crushed tomatoes and chili beans with their sauces. Be sure to also add all of your favorite chili seasonings such as chile powder, cumin, oregano and salt. Stir everything together thoroughly and adjust heat and seasoning levels as desired.
After cooking your chili on low heat for 8-10 hours or on high heat for 4-5 hours, the chili is ready to serve. Top with desired toppings such as grated cheese, sour cream, cilantro and diced onions. Serve your Crockpot Chili with Beans warm and enjoy!
