Arriving with the project are the visuals for the track ‘Left Feet’ Inspired in part by Wim Wenders' film Paris Texas, the video for ‘Left Feet’ finally lets listeners in for the conclusion of the hijacked radio broadcast that Hamond pieces together over the course of the project. Telling stories of unrequited love and fizzling relationships, his project sonically documents the various phases of cultural impact that pirate radio has had from the unauthorized rock and roll broadcasts of the 60s to the dance music explosion in the UK in the 90s. Hamond pulls from these various genres and subcultures while imbuing the music with his own experiences in Houston and Los Angeles.
"Left feet is about knowing a relationship has to end, yet being thankful for the time spent and the memories gained," Hamond says of the song. "Sonically, it feels like riding on a vintage wooden cigar boat through the french riviera at blue hour."
Across the 10-tracks of ‘Pirate Radio’, Hamond showcases his ability to meld electronic atmospheres with cinematic soundscapes and R&B and pop influences. ‘Pirate Radio’ features the previously released singles ‘Pieces’, ‘Badget’ which arrived with a self-directed video, and ‘Angels’ which also arrived with a self-directed video portraying a collage of memories that show a shiny, utopian version of Houston Hamond remembers seeing as a child. Pigeons & Planes stated ‘Pirate Radio’ "celebrates subcultures and fuses alternative and electronic music in a way that's sophisticated without being inaccessible."
