VIVA HINDS was born from the collaboration between co-founders Carlotta Cosials and Ana Perrote, who reignited their creative spark after the departure of their bassist and drummer. Their bond, which they describe as being "millionaires in friendship," became the driving force behind the album's creation. Produced by Pete Robertson and mixed by GRAMMY-winning engineer Caesar Edmunds, the album is a sonic leap forward, showcasing the band’s most ambitious and personal work to date. It even features their first tracks sung in Spanish, along with high-profile collaborations with Beck and Fontaines D.C.'s Grian Chatten.
Chatten’s contribution to the song "Stranger" is particularly striking. As longtime friends, the connection between Hinds and Fontaines D.C. runs deep. The song delves into heavy themes, exploring the feeling of existential disconnection. As the band puts it, “Fontaines D.C. taught us to embrace that darkness,” and it is this raw, introspective tone that defines VIVA HINDS.
The album, which arrived after the challenges that followed their 2020 release The Prettiest Curse, represents more than just a new chapter—it’s a full reinvention. What could have been the band’s lowest point became their most accomplished work, embracing darkness while celebrating the joy of their long-standing friendship.
Hinds have also proven their enduring energy on stage. Kicking off 2024 with a string of electrifying shows during Independent Venue Week in the UK, followed by a standout performance at SXSW, their live performances continue to capture the raw, unfiltered energy that defines them. With sold-out shows across major cities like London, Paris, and Berlin, the band is set to return to the UK in September, before embarking on a full EU/UK tour in early 2025.
VIVA HINDS is more than just an album—it’s a testament to survival, growth, and the power of enduring connections. As Hinds continues to evolve, one thing remains clear: their story is far from over.
