Before making this biscuit and gravy dish, start by gathering your ingredients. You will need biscuits, sausage, fat, flour, salt, black pepper, onion powder, thyme leaves, garlic powder, chicken stock and heavy cream. Make sure you have all the ingredients at hand before beginning!
Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Lay out your biscuits on a baking sheet or pizza stone. Place in the preheated oven and bake for 15 minutes or until golden brown. Once cooked, remove them from the oven and set aside to cool before serving with the sausage gravy topping.
Prepare the biscuit base and refrigerate for 30 minutes.
In a large bowl, mix together the flour, baking powder, and salt. Cut in the butter with a pastry cutter or your hands until it resembles coarse crumbs. Preheat oven to 375F (190C). Grease an 8-inch round cake pan and place it on a baking sheet. On a lightly floured work surface, roll the biscuit dough into a 12-inch round about 1⁄4-inch thick. Using a sharp knife or pizza cutter, cut the dough into 8 even wedges. Place the wedges in the prepared pan and brush with melted butter if desired. Bake for 25–30 minutes until golden brown.
