Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).

Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Lay out your biscuits on a baking sheet or pizza stone. Place in the preheated oven and bake for 15 minutes or until golden brown. Once cooked, remove them from the oven and set aside to cool before serving with the sausage gravy topping.

Prepare the biscuit base and refrigerate for 30 minutes.

In a large bowl, mix together the flour, baking powder, and salt. Cut in the butter with a pastry cutter or your hands until it resembles coarse crumbs. Next, add in buttermilk and knead just until it holds together. Place the dough onto a floured surface and roll it out to 1/2 inch thickness. Using a biscuit cutter or a drinking glass, cut out as many biscuits as you can. Place them on an ungreased baking sheet and then refrigerate for 30 minutes.

Make the sausage gravy topping mixture.

In a large skillet on medium-high heat, cook the sausage until it’s browned and completely cooked. Add in the onions, garlic, and seasonings then cook for an additional 5 minutes. Finally, whisk together the flour and milk and pour it into the skillet. Let this mixture simmer until it has thickened which should take about 10 minutes. Pour this savory gravy overtop of the biscuits and serve warm!

Assemble and bake the biscuits for 25–30 minutes.

Preheat oven to 375F (190C). Grease an 8-inch round cake pan and place it on a baking sheet. On a lightly floured work surface, roll the biscuit dough into a 12-inch round about 1⁄4-inch thick.
