Jake Daniels claims to be gay, he is the first gay professional male pro to play football in the whole of the UK.
He said: "It's been so long that I just worked out and worked out, thinking every day how I want to do it and when want to do it. I think it's the right time.
I feel ready to tell my story, I want people to know the real me. Lying all the time is not what I wanted to do, and it was a struggle. The next day I told my mum and sister, we played in Accrington and I have four, so that shows how much weight there is on shoulders. It was a huge relief."
In a statement posted on her website she wrote: "Hated lying all my life feeling the need to change to fit in.
I want to be a role model myself this way. There are people in the same space of me who may not feel comfortable revealing their sexuality. You are yourself and being happy is what matters most."
Daniels is the first British professional footballer to come out since Justin Fashanu, who was treated openly by the British media in the 1990s.
This comes shortly after it was reported that PSG's Idrissa Gueye refused to play for her club due to the rainbow colors on her jersey.
Daniels is a highly regarded talent who was named Blackpool youth team player of the season for 2020-21 after scoring 30 goals for the Under 18s.
