He's also worth more than $8 million per season.

MacKinnon signed a six-year contract extension with the Avs last summer that will pay him $6.875 million annually through the 2021-22 season. That means his salary jumps to $8.5 million next year, then $9.25 million in 2022-23, and so on.

The Avs have an option on his contract for next year at $7.25 million

MacKinnon is coming off a career-best season in which he scored 31 goals and added 56 assists for 87 points in 82 games. He also had a plus-minus rating of +16 and averaged nearly 20 minutes per game.

His cap hit will be $9.75 million this year.

That means his salary will be more than $8.5 million per season.

He'll make $10 million in 2017-18.
