The 4-track folk-rock inspired EP captures the essence of Sam’s early musical career, featuring songs that he has crafted throughout his teenage years between 12 to 16. The project forms a musical diary, documenting a glimpse into his journey of songwriting and sonic development. The EP ‘Everything’s Alright’ displays Sam’s deep empathy and passion for the people and world around him, highlighting his mature sense of awareness and understanding. The newest addition to Sam’s musical collection and title track, ‘Everything’s Alright’ is an upbeat track, filled with Sam’s acoustic guitar that is lifted by the sound of his distinctive harmonica. The single is yet another remarkable demonstration of Sam’s timeless sonic and lyrical craft. Previous releases inclusive of ‘This World We Made’,'Journey' and debut single ‘When The Sun Shines’ also feature on the EP.
When speaking about the EP, Sam said ‘These are some of my earliest songs. The best way I can describe the EP is: The first song I wrote, a love song, a harmonica song, and a jumble of words.’
Alongside Wilkinson’s 4-track EP drops an intimate and powerful live performance of his debut single ‘When The Sun Shines’. Showcasing Sam on keys, with fellow band members on the brass and strings in a dim-lit, yet comfortingly warm space, mirroring the consoling and personal aura of the track. Today Sam has also announced an exciting 3 date residency at the Forge where he will perform his personally curated shows bi-monthly alongside other artists. Each showcase will be unique to itself demonstrating Sam’s creative abilities and musical talents .
Growing up in South East London, music was everywhere Sam looked, with some of his earliest memories being at street parties with his family, where local musicians and bands would showcase their music. Instantly inspired by the melting pot of sonic influences and talents Sam began writing music at the young age of 12. To begin with he taught himself the songs of his musical heroes at the time including Cat Stevens, Jack Johnson, ABBA and The Beatles, playing these covers at home and at school talent shows. He also spent a lot of time developing his sound with Ian Laws, a session musician who was dedicated to Sam’s early ambitions of becoming a singer/songwriter. All this leading up to now. Sam has spent the last decade discovering his sound and carefully honing his craft pulling from various enduring inspirations in the scene such as Ray Charles, Bob Dylan and Carole King. His lyrical content is vivid and emotive, and the voice that carries his words is mellisonant, nostalgic and powerful enough to move thousands.
The 19-year-old has played on bills at venues including the Royal Albert Hall,Ronnie Scotts and O2 Shepherds Bush Empire. Most recently Sam played the main stage at Secret Garden Party and performed the supporting slot for Taylor McCall’s London show. Embarking into the music scene this summer with his debut release ‘When The Sun Shines’ Sam Wilkinson is a timeless artist ready to show-off what he has passionately been working on for some time.
