In a statement, Bashy expressed his excitement: “I’m pleased to announce my debut headline show at Bush Hall. The new record is really resonating with people and it’s a special one for me too. Now I’m just so looking forward to performing it live, with a full band, some special guests… Celebrating this moment, this music with an audience, together.”
This summer, Bashy made a highly anticipated return to music with the release of his new studio album, Being Poor is Expensive. Described as “...a masterpiece” by THE WIRE, the album was produced by Toddla T and Bashy, and features collaborations with Scrapz, Roses Gabor, and HAILE.
The album's first single, "Sweet Boys Turned Sour," showcases Bashy’s lyrical prowess with its soulful melodies, powerful 808s, and Jamaican dancehall-inspired sub-bass. The track vividly illustrates his skills as a wordsmith and storyteller. The second single, "Sticky," sees Bashy revisiting his Grime roots and pays homage to UK garage pioneer Sticky, drawing inspiration from his early years and pirate radio days. The third single, "Blessed" featuring Skrapz and Haile, brings together North West London rapper Skrapz and West London rapper Haile for a collaboration that blends UK garage and dancehall influences from Bashy’s formative years. THE QUIETUS described Being Poor is Expensive as “...a heart-rending gut punch about love and hope. It is Bashy on top form.”
With this debut headline show, Bashy is set to celebrate his latest musical achievements and reconnect with his audience in a live setting, marking a significant milestone in his career.
