The Philadelphia 76ers are based in Pennsylvania's capital city of Philadelphia. In 1946, they were founded under the old name Syracuse Nationals. She relocates to Philadelphia in 1963. It was historically one of the strongest teams in the Eastern Conference, winning the NBA championship (nel 1955, 1967 e 1983).

The 76ers' name is inspired by Thomas Jefferson's Declaration of Independence Day. Philly, Pennsylvania, signed it on August 4th, 1776.

The Philadelphia 76ers experienced a negative phase due to internal upheaval during the end of the 1990s, but they returned to the NBA playoffs and lost to the Los Angeles Lakers.

Under the leadership of players like Joel Embiid and Ben Simmons, the team has created a strong youthful core as it enters a new stage of reconstruction. The 76ers reached the Conference semifinals and concluded the 2020–21 season with the best record in the Eastern Conference.
