Gather Your Ingredients.
Start by gathering all of the ingredients you’ll need for your cheesy meatloaf. You’ll need ground beef, bread crumbs, an egg, shredded cheese, onion, garlic, a teaspoon of pepper and salt each, ketchup, and Worcestershire sauce. Make sure to have all of the ingredients prepped before you begin so you can work quickly and achieve perfect results every time.
Preheat the Oven and Grease a Pan.
Preheat your oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit and lightly grease the inside of a 9-inch by 3-inch metal loaf pan. Greasing the pan will allow your meatloaf to easily slip out once it’s done cooking. Now you’re ready to prepare the ingredients for your cheesy meatloaf!
Mix All the Ingredients in a Bowl.
In a large bowl, mix together 1 lb of lean ground beef, 1⁄2 cup of bread crumbs, 1⁄4 cup of shredded cheddar cheese, 1 egg white, 2 minced garlic cloves and 1 tablespoon of Worcestershire sauce until everything is evenly distributed. This mixture should be slightly lumpy. Now spoon it into your lightly greased loaf pan and spread it out until it’s evenly spread along the bottom. Top with an additional 2 tablespoons of shredded cheddar cheese before baking in the oven for 25 minutes or until cooked through. Enjoy!
Form and Place into the Pan.
Start by forming the meatloaf mixture into a loaf shape and place it in a lightly greased loaf pan. Make sure that the loaf is evenly distributed in the pan, with no large areas of space between the edges and corners. Make sure to spread out any lumps or small pieces before adding any shredded cheddar cheese to the top of the meatloaf.
Bake, Top with Cheese and Bake Again.
Once the meatloaf has formed and is in the pan, it's time to bake!
Cook uncovered in preheated oven at 375°F (190°C) for 15 minutes. After 15 minutes have passed, remove from oven and top with shredded cheese. Return to oven and continue baking for another 10-15 minutes or until a thermometer inserted into centre reads 165°F (74°C). Let rest for 5-10 minutes before serving. Enjoy!
