Michael Schmidt - Waffenruhe

Michael Schmidt is regarded as one of the seminal postwar German photographers. His works can be found in international collections and have been presented in numerous solo and group exhibitions. Schmidt’s series WAFFENRUHE (Ceasefire), 1985-1987, was featured in New Photography 4 at The Museum of Modern Art in New York Books and exhibition projects such as WAFFENRUHE (1987) , EIN-HEIT/U-NI-TY (1996), Frauen (Women, 2000) and LEBENSMITTEL (Food, 2012) are considered significant works in the history of photography. In 2014 he was awarded the prestigious Prix Pictet.
