Chanel brings its highly anticipated temporary boutique in Scotland, following the triumph of previous pop-ups in New York, Bangkok, and London. The picturesque Robert Adam designed listed building at No 8. Charlotte Square has been reimagined as a CHANEL residence showcasing the Métiers d’art 2022/23 collection, and a selection of Watches & Fine Jewellery and Fragrance & Beauty over three spacious floors.
The 19th century neo classical sandstone townhouse is the epitome of Scottish elegance and features generous bay windows, stucco and frescoed ceilings and marble hallways in the harmonious 5,232 sq. ft interior. The entertaining and reception rooms create a charming temporary home for the CHANEL collections in a city that Gabrielle Chanel adored. She formed a strong bond with Scotland both aesthetically and professionally, relishing country and town life alike. Specialist weavers and knitwear makers on the Scottish borders continue to create the House’s exceptional cashmere knitwear and signature tweeds.
Visitors to No.8 Charlotte Square will be welcomed into a light filled marble hallway dotted with antiques, artworks and floral arrangements, which instantly make one feel ‘at home.’ The ground floor houses the first Ready-to-Wear salon alongside a room devoted to handbags and accessories. Furnishings include CHANEL’s signature golden beige materials juxtaposed with furniture upholstered in vibrant pink and green tweed.
A wide staircase leads to the first floor where a delightful, frescoed ceiling dining room has been transformed into a second Ready-to-Wear area. The expansive bay windows, fireplace and parquet floor speak of culture and conviviality. Adjacent rooms house the shoe collection, a fitting room, and a curation of accessories.
Emblematic CHANEL style is gently interwoven throughout the residence and resonates in the bespoke furniture and contemporary artworks, in the black and beige carpet, in the array of mirror panels, blackened wood desks, fabric walls and warm golden hues that reflect the sandstone edifice.
The Collection
The 2022/23 Métiers d'art collection, unveiled last December in the former Palais de Justice in Dakar, combines a profusion of colours and motifs inspired by the energy of the 1970s with the emblematic codes of the House. Camellias, intertwined pearls, jewelled buttons, beaded embroidery and sequins are all reinvented by Virginie Viard, Artistic Director of CHANEL's Fashion collections, in a creative dialogue with the artisans at the Maisons d'art.
Fragrance & Beauty features Les Exclusifs collection and a full range of Les Eaux, while Watches & Fine Jewellery spotlights the J12, Premiere and Coco Crush collections.
