Unveiling Fila F-Box Collection at Pitti Immagine Uomo 2023

Tennis has a leading role. Starting from the legendary White Line which brought color to the playing field, unhinging the limits of a style that, up to that moment, had been somewhat codified, FILA has accompanied the aesthetic and technical evolutions of this discipline, cementing its influence on clothing on and off the tennis court. To seal it all, an unforgettable, high-impact logo: F-BOX, introduced in 1973, still unchanged after 50 years.

The special project presented at Pitti Uomo as a highlight and introduction to the first FILA Global collection revolves around the logo and tennis, which are inextricably intertwined. The topic is interpreted in a graphic rather than literal way, following the coupling of performance and style that is defining of FILA: the idea that beauty and purpose cannot be separated, and that there can be no elegance without function. The garments related to the world of tennis, from polo shirts to pleated skirts to the unmistakable FILA 70 jacket, but also hooded sweatshirts, crew neck jumpers, jumpsuits and tracksuits, are seen anew, mixing vintage hints with a strongly contemporary spirit. Racket prints swarm allover; asymmetries and piping create graphic movements. The shapes combine tennis with the volumes and materials of running, creating a hybrid language in which the blue, red and green palette gives a classic hint and the technical fabrics add a performing dynamism.

The graphic spirit carries over in the GLOBAL collection. The outdoors and mountaineering, another discipline strongly linked to the FILA imagery, is explored through garments with large volumes and functional details such as the drawstring - which recall mountaineering ropes - and the large pockets, highlighted by contrasting colors. The generously shaped sweatshirts, jackets and shorts, made in crinkle nylon, are combined with leggings and bodysuits. Finally, running hints characterize a group of anoraks, tracksuits, leggings and bodysuits in electric colors, made in crisp and light materials, with the logo spelt in large type.
