Introduced in the house’s Spring Summer 2023 collection, the new Paseo bag presents an elegant vision of modern femininity, and a new aesthetic for the house’s luxury leather goods.
Following months of research and development by creative director Jonathan Anderson and the LOEWE atelier, the Paseo bag is unveiled as the latest addition to the house’s leather goods collection. Offering both fluid form and function, the Paseo uses a new and incredibly supple calfskin to create a distinct, elliptical silhouette which sees two pleats gather the material towards its tubular leather handles. To further showcase the smooth tactility of the leather and the atelier’s craft, two coil Flamenco knots, an instantly recognisable signature of the house, adorn its corners. Streamlined details such as the discreet zip enclosure and suede lining ensure an easy-to-carry lightness.
The Paseo made its Spring Summer 2023 runway debut in Paris in a succession of covetable shades: Dark Butter, Burgundy, Light Mauve, Emerald, and a Khaki Green topped with the pristine bracts of a glossy and exotic anthurium flower. Elsewhere, the bag appeared pumped up to XL proportions, or in its glamorous evening guise, in small Black, Emerald Green or Soft White, and paired with a gold donut chain which winds its way around the edge of the bag, drawing attention to the Paseo’s unique silhouette. Its final embellishment is the LOEWE logo embossed in gold on the front of the bag.
LOEWE’s history of leather savoir-faire, dating back to the house’s foundations in 1846, remains an ongoing point of reference. The lightness of the Paseo can be traced to its inspiration, a bag from the mid-2000s Aire Series, and its stylish flair is summed up by its name, and its suggestion to take a promenade through the streets of Spain. The Paseo bag is a symbol of craftsmanship and renewal that feels timeless yet of the moment.
