It didn’t take long for Ye and Demna to turn the launch of their long-awaited first collection into reality for all fashion enthusiasts. First announced at the end of February, the drop that kicked off their creative collaboration for Yeezy GAP Engineered by Balenciaga was met with great excitement by their community. 

Coinciding with Ye’s Donda 2 experience performance in Miami and inspired by the two collaborators’ vision of utilitarian design, the first offering comprised eight different styles ranging from padded denim jackets to logo T-shirts and hoodies. Stemming from Ye and Demna’s own conception of what fashion should look like and coupled with Gap’s signature American aesthetics, the line was filled with timeless silhouettes turned casual; a stylistic choice making the visionary world of the two creatives accessible to everyone.  

Three months since the first glimpse at the collection, all 25 items are now available to purchase worldwide on the official yeezygap.com website as well as on Balenciaga’s selected retail partners farfetch.com and mytheresa.com. 

Permeated by shades of black, a recurring motif in Demna’s creative vision, the first drop from Yeezy GAP Engineered by Balenciaga aims at taking wardrobe essentials to the next level by reinventing them through sharp, couture-like shoulders and purposefully exaggerated volumes. Here, simple garments such as T-shirts, sweatpants, and denim jackets are elevated to runway cult thanks to the futuristic, minimal touch of the minds behind the collection.
