The Belgian fashion designer has picked the runway of London Fashion Week for the presentation of his upcoming Spring/Summer 2023 line
Calling all Raf Simons fans: the co-creative director of Prada is set to fly to London to showcase the wonders of his new men’s and women’s collections this coming September. The announcement came yesterday as a provisional schedule for this year’s London Fashion Week was released, giving every London-based Simons stan something to look forward to amid the ongoing climate and socio-political uncertainty.
Presenting alongside the likes of JW Anderson, Burberry, Erdem, and S.S. Daley to name a few, the Belgian fashion pioneer — who normally launches the collections of his eponymous brand in Paris — will have his London Fashion Week debut this season.
If there’s anything that those who have followed Simons since the beginnings of his haute couture career know is that he isn’t new to reinventing himself and surprising his crowd in the least expected ways. An industrial and furniture design graduate, the Belgian maverick first discovered his love for fashion during Martin Margiela’s all-white show in 1991; a fashion presentation he wouldn’t have attended without interning at the design studio of Walter Van Beirendonck.
